Bongo Balance teaches players the fundamentals of balancing equations by having them settle feuds between tribal monkey clans. Players are shown an "equation" of fruit clusters, with one monkey tribe representing the left of the equation and the other tribe representing the right side. Players add and subtract clusters of fruit on each side to bring the amount of fruit into balance, just like with atoms in a chemical equation.
This app targets middle school students and addresses the following NGSS:
[MS.PS-C R, A] Atoms regroup and conserve mass during chemical reactions, and this can be represented in chemical equations.
